CANTON, Mass., March 23-- Bolstering its position as the leading supplier of on-site oral screens for drugs of abuse, Avitar, Inc. (Amex: AVR - News) today announced that South Lubes, Inc., one of the nation's largest Jiffy Lube franchises, is using Avitar's technology for employee drug screening company wide. South Lubes operates more than 60 outlets in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. "Having a customer-oriented service organization like South Lubes using our ORALscreenŽ product company-wide is another validation point of the growing acceptance of oral fluid testing," Peter Phildius, chairman and CEO of Avitar Inc. stated. "Prior to switching Avitar, we used urine testing on a limited basis," said Jim Orsi, Director of Operations for South Lubes Inc. "The practice just didn't work well for us. Our managers were uncomfortable with urine testing. As a result, testing was done only at the management level. By switching to Avitar's products, we can test all employees on-site, any time, and we have the support of all of our franchise managers."

South Lubes performs pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing on all employees.
