Avitar, Inc., appoints veteran police lieutenant and industry executive as Director of Business Development for Public Safety
Ronald H. Allen, formerly with Secon of New England, Inc., expected to capitalize on Avitar’s assets in drugs of abuse technology solutions

CANTON, MA, June 27, 2000–Avitar, Inc. (AMEX:AVR) announced today that Ronald H. Allen has been appointed as Director of Business Development for Public Safety (courts, parole, probation, drug courts, law enforcement), effective immediately.

Mr. Allen has more than twenty years experience as a police officer focused on narcotics investigations, and has a demonstrated ability to build, from start-up, a specialized drug testing services laboratory company. In particular, Mr. Allen has distinct expertise in the state-of-the-art techniques and technologies available for drug testing, and is fluent in the current investigative practices used by law enforcement agents across the country.
While Mr. Allen served as a law enforcement officer for the states of Florida and Massachusetts, he was involved in all levels of narcotics investigations, including undercover cases. His assignments intersected with the full spectrum of law enforcement, including correctional facilities, probationary and drug courts and drug traffic pursuit. After retiring from the police force, Allen realized his business acumen in 1996 and founded Secon of New England, Inc. This drug testing services laboratory company provided clinical trials and diagnostic services to the public safety and corporate markets. Recently, Mr. Allen sold Secon to Civagenics.
